Mr yeung, following his stepfather who had been living in Indonesia for many years, came to Indonesia in the 1920's. At first, Mr yeung assisted his stepfather in the store, kept learning and try to adapt to the local culture. With many years' saving, Mr yeung and his wife opened the kopitiam which is commonly called coffee grocery in Southeast Africa.
One day a middle-aged man came into the kopitiam, with one antimony plate in his hands which is as wide as his body and hung on his neck by one thick rope tied to both sides of the plate. The man knocked the plate by one small hammer to make “dingding" sound and crying “TING TING JAHE, TING TING JAHE". The first distinct told Mr yeung that it was a good product so Mr yeung talked with the man about how to make candies. After many years' small candy business, Mr yeung with accumulated experience and capital decided to set up his own candy factory. Then Mr yeung purchased the most advanced manufacturing equipment at that time and awaited the equipment with full expectation. However, only a bad news came that the profiteer absconded with the money. The sudden blow didn't provoke Mr yeung's unyielding spirits and Mr yeung found a suitable time to start over.
